Test Engineer


Description

Mobius Motors designs, manufactures, and sells highly durable, highly affordable vehicles for Africa’s mass market. Our vehicles create a transport platform that empowers local entrepreneurs to run profitable transportation services to end-users in their communities.


We are seeking a long-term commitment from an experienced test verification and validation professional to support the engineering development team as Test Engineer.


The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out the required verification & validation(V&V) activities during the vehicle development programme.


The role will require a close working relationship with the Senior Integration Manager, Product Development Quality Engineer, Production Quality Engineer and R&D Workshop team.


Specific duties include:


Verification & Validation



  • Ensure the verification and validation activities for the vehicle development programme are defined, executed, monitored and reported on.

  • Ensure V&V activities are executed in alignment with the vehicle programme timeline and quality goals and, report on issues and progress to demonstrate product functionality and compliance to desired design goals.

  • Work with respective vehicle system engineers, plan, develop and conduct functional tests covering overall vehicle components.

  • Analyse requirements specifications including any regulatory requirements with respective system engineers and develop applicable test plans.

  • Support design and coordinate the building of any required off-vehicle test rigs for verification test work.

  • Ensure proper set up of test data equipment on vehicles for data logging and analysis.

  • Ensure comprehensive reporting of vehicle testing issues to respective engineering system and product quality engineers.

  • Work with respective system engineers to support the analysis and interpretation of the test data results from the verification and validation test work by collating and preparing technical test reports for use by the engineering and management team.

  • Work with system engineers to ensure adequate cross-functional and peer review of product test plans.

  • Support the development of appropriate End of Line (E.O.L) specification for use by various suppliers to ensure the necessary testing during production of vehicle components.

  • Support product technical design reviews.

  • Support design teams with DFMEA development.

  • Ensure the appropriate storage and easy retrieval of all test reports, data and results.

  • Ensure the use of quantitative measures and indicators in analysing problems resulting from test work, developing recommendations and making decisions.


Project Management



  • Take ownership of the verification and validation projects and issues; plan milestones, timelines, budgets, resources and identify potential risks to deliver resolutionswithin agreed completion dates.

  • Be proactive regarding verification and validation issue identification and periodically advise wider team on status, risks and required activities to progress forward.

  • Work as an active member of the team, ensure effective communication between colleagues and positively contribute regularly to meetings and briefings.


Qualifications



  • An ideal candidate should combine excellent test verification background with appropriate technical skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team.

  • They should possess a strong skill set in defining verification and validation strategy and identifying critical issues and risks to meeting required goals.


Required



  • 4+years related experience inquality, mechanical, electrical engineering or closely related fields

  • An ability to work to a very high level of accuracy and detail

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Good interpersonal skills to build strong rapport with design engineers

  • Exceptional persistence and endurance to overcome significant challenges

  • Excellent problem solving ability in cross-functional and multi-cultural environment; able to define problems, collect relevant data, extract meaning from data, and draw valid conclusions

  • Exceptional analytical skills with regards to logistics analysis, data manipulation, and the ability to create information from data

  • Ability to effectively communicate timelines and project progress with both internal and external management teams

  • Experience in developing verification and validation test plans

  • Experience with data analysis tools and software

  • Understanding of engineering test instrumentation and data acquisition equipment

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • High sense of drive and urgency in achieving our vision

  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic working environment and work within a diverse team


Desired



  • Willingness to work occasional long hours to ensure required test work is completed

  • Willingness to travel to conduct required vehicle testing

  • Clean Driving license

  • Fluency in Kiswahili (the national language of Kenya)
