Finance Officer
Job Purpose:
To provide comprehensive financial and accounting services to the Company and other financial advices and support to budget making. The responsibility includes preparation, monitoring and reporting of annual budget; analyzing unit/activity revenue, costs and variances, evaluating profitability improvement and cost reduction programmes; monitoring achievement of savings targets.
Duties/Key responsibilities:
- Preparing and maintaining monthly petty cash expenditure.
- Preparing monthly budgets and capital expenditure estimates
- Ensuring that all company monthly expenses are within the set budget and variances explained
- Preparing and forwarding for approval monthly payment schedule
- Ensure accuracy, security and documentation of cash resources in the company, maintain the Office’s cash book.
- Receiving all suppliers invoices and processing them for payment
- Prepaying monthly payroll and paying all salaries and commissions
- Ensure that statutory deductions are made and reports are filed in time.
- Ensure that daily accounting records are updated and support Internal and External Audit processes
- To supervise and coordinate the development of the department – wide accounting policies and procedures.
- Act as an agent in the bank accounts held by the company. (Making cash withdrawals and cash deposits)
- To work closely with other departmental staff to ensure a smooth closedown of accounts for month-end and year-end.
- To liaise with departmental staff, sharing costing information and other inputs into pricing and financial planning.
- To comply with Standing Financial Instructions and Audit requirements and provide advice to the departments as required.
- To constantly review systems and procedures within the division, both to increase efficiency and to comply with any new guidelines issued by internal and external Audit reports.
- To supervise and coordinate the development and maintenance of a central system of accounts for all departments within the Company.
- To supervise and review the billing, revenue capture and expenditure function of the Company.
- Ensure accurate and adequate documentation and recording of QHL expenditures. Undertake monthly cash and bank reconciliation. Undertake reconciliation with the assistance of the operations staff
- Prepare monthly management accounts and other financial reports for management decision making
- Guide and provide support to staff in the application of financial policies and procedures.
- Performing other duties as may be required from time to time
Qualifications/Experience
- Business degree in bachelor of commerce accounting or finance option
- At least 2 (two) experience in a busy accounting/finance environment
