ICT Service Provider


Organisation Caritas Switzerland and Caritas Luxembourg are non-governmental aid agencies and members of Caritas Internationalis. Caritas works worldwide and adheres to international humanitarian principles (NGO code of conduct). Caritas Switzerland and Caritas Luxembourg act in the frame of a MoU as a consortium in the Eastern Africa and the Horn of Africa.


They operate a joint Liaison Office in Nairobi, have Country Offices in Somaliland (Hargeisa) and South Sudan (Torit) and a Representative in Ethiopia (Addis Ababa).


Caritas Switzerland/Luxembourg is looking for ICT services Provider to help realise its ICT challenges, namely to maintain the office server, computers and laptops, advise managements on IT issues and troubleshooting among others.


Position ICT Service Provider

Reporting to Finance & Administration Manager

Duration One year renewable

Location Nairobi with regular travel to Caritas Switzerland’s programmes in the region (Kenya,

Ethiopia, Somaliland and South Sudan)


Key tasks & responsibilities



  • Connecting, installing and configuring computer hardware operating systems and applications;

  • Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks and maintain IP addresses;

  • Talking staff through a series of actions, either face to face or over the telephone to help set up systems or resolve issues and provide individual training and support on request;

  • Troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults;

  • Replacing hardware parts as required;

  • Providing support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports;

  • Following diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system;

  • Supporting the roll-out of new applications and ensure network access to all staff;

  • Setting up new users’ accounts and profiles and dealing with password issues;

  • Responding within agreed time limits to call-outs;

  • Prioritising and managing many open cases at one time;

  • Testing and evaluating new technology and Monitor security of all technology;

  • Conducting electrical safety checks on ICT equipment;

  • Provide recommendations about accessing information and support;

  • Make recommendations about purchase of technology resources; and

  • Identify and prepare hardware for disposal when appropriate and ensure hardware is stripped and secured before disposal


Essential requirements



  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in the field ICT and programming;

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of ICT and ICT consultancy sup2/ & qualifications port;

  • Sound computer and programming knowledge;

  • Be familiar with all hardware, software and with network operating system;

  • Be familiar with computer networks, network administration and network installa-tion;

  • Ability to install and administer computer hardware, software and networks;

  • Experience in Microsoft Windows 2003/2008 server administration;

  • Experience in administration of Microsoft Exchange, Backup Exec and antivirus software;

  • Familiarity with Web Content Management Systems; and

  • Ability to analyze, troubleshoots, support, and implement technical solutions for laptops and desktops Contract start April 2014
