The Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) is an Intergovernmental organization which provides services in surveying, mapping, remote sensing, GIS and ICT to its member States, partners and clients.
It currently has twenty member States in the Eastern and Southern Africa Region.
Our Mission is to promote sustainable development through generation, application and dissemination of g eo-information and allied ICT services and products in the member States and beyond.
RCMRD wishes to fill the following vacant positions:
RCMRD is implementing SERVIR Africa Project in collaboration with NASA with funding from USAID and wishes to fill the following positions in the project.
Servir Africa Capacity Development Lead
Under the supervision of the Director, RS, GIS and Mapping the main responsibilities are as follows:
- Coordinate needs assessment and market studies for capacity development in RCMRD member States;
- Develop and evaluate concept papers and project proposals on geospatial capacity development and training programs;
- Coordinate the development of training curricula, training materials, manuals and e-learning courses with the inputs from thematic experts;
- Organize and plan regional and national training courses, seminars and workshops;
- Coordinate outreach, communication and marketing of trainings and capacity development and develop and maintain network with alumni;
- Provide advisory services in the field of geospatial capacity development and training, through correspondence, direct contact with visitors, visits to RCMRD member States and with qualified professionals from associated organizations;
- Coordinate with RCMRD staff for the effective implementation and management of the capacity development activities and assist in planning, budgeting, progress reporting and monitoring.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s degree in Geomatics, Geographic Information Systems, Remote Sensing, Natural Resources and Environmental Science or other relevant fields.
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant, practical and professional experience in developing, organizing, implementing and evaluating professional training courses including e-learning in applications of earth observation and geospatial technology.
Contract Duration: One (1) year renewable.
