The dramas of controversial lawyer Ahmednassir is far too familiar to many of us as he has been at the centre of controversies such as the sacking of Chief Registrar Gladys Boss Shollei, among others.
As Ahmednasir’s term in JSC comes to expire on December 31st , you can be sure that Law Society of Kenya (LSK) will not renew his term.
Talk of ambition, good timing or call it opportunism, former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) chairman Tom Ojienda has launched his bid to replace lawyer Ahmednassir Abdullahi at the Judicial Service Commission.
According to Ojienda, who is a former Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC) commissioner, is keen to impressing upon lawyers across the country to support his bid.
He has already reached out to lawyers in Kisumu, Eldoret, Kitale, Machakos, Mombasa and Malindi to seek their support for the position and will be moving to other towns to seek support from lawyers.
So who exactly is Ojienda?
Ojienda, an Associate Professor of Human Rights, Land Law and Gender at Moi University. He is a PhD holder in Law from the University of South Africa and a former student at the Kings College-London where he graduated in 1995 with Masters in Laws after his Bachelors at the University of Nairobi.
He is currently serving as the Vice-President, Pan African Lawyers Union and is the Past President, East Africa Law Society. He is also the chairman, and council member at the International Bar Association.
