Media Partnership Manager
Internews Europe is an international media development organization that improves access to information and freedom of expression worldwide.
Internews Europe is launching a media development project focused on child rights in Kenya.
The project will support ‘traditional’ media outlets (TV, radio, newspapers) and use new media systems (websites, social media, and cell phones) to better communicate information on child rights issues, expand the public and policy debate, and amplify child and advocacy voices on child rights.
Internews Europe is looking for eleven (11) motivated staff members to implement the child rights media project.
Media Partnership Manager
The Media Partnership Manager will be responsible for the development, management and coordination of media training and production activities in child rights areas in collaboration with national and international partners and media houses.
S/he will supervise 4 (four) positions.
Specific responsibilities:
Manage child rights focused media training and production activities including technical oversight and story quality insurance.
Design, coordinate and direct media training activities (workshops, roundtables, travel grants, mentoring sessions etc.) and other media and child rights activities in partnership with local media outlets, media regulatory bodies, CSOs and other local organisations.
Design with partner media outlets guidelines and policies for child rights reporting and assist in their implementation. In some cases, work on programming with managers of partner media.
Develop partnerships with media outlets to have children generated produced content aired/published regularly on community and mainstream media.
Build and maintain partnerships with media outlets, media development organizations, child rights organizations and universities; promote dialogue and networking between CSOs and the media.
Write project reporting of training activities.
Qualifications:
Minimum BA in Journalism and Communication.
Minimum 7 years experience as a senior journalist / editor.
Experience training journalists or journalism students and developing curricula.
Skills:
Excellent communication skills including proven interpersonal and networking skills.
Thorough understanding of child rights, social and legal issues specific to Kenya.
Strong organizational skills with proven ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set priority and work under minimum supervision.
Strong project reporting skills.
Creativity.
