Expression of Interest from Experts to be included in the Roster for Consultancy Services
About UN Women: UN WOMEN, the United Nation’s Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women came into operation from January 1, 2011.
UN WOMEN was created by the United Nations General Assembly on July 2, 2010 to accelerate progress in meeting the needs of women and girls worldwide.
UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
About the Roster of Experts: UN WOMEN Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office is preparing a roster of experts from a wide variety of disciplines.
We are therefore inviting CVs from qualified experts in the following thematic areas:
- Thematic Area
- Women Economic Empowerment
- Gender Responsive Budgeting
- Women Peace and Security
- Eradicating Violence Against Women
- Governance
- Resource Mobilization
- Communication and Media
- Monitoring and Evaluation
- Strategic Planning and Coordination
- Humanitarian and Disaster Risk Management
Minimum Qualifications and Experience required for Eligibility to Roster: CVs will be evaluated on their responsiveness to the thematic area as well as on each expert’s qualifications and experience.
The minimum requirements will include:
- Advanced University Degree (Master, Phd) relevant to the thematic area.
- Progressive working experience and technical knowledge in the respective field or area of expertise
- Excellent communication skills (oral & written)
- Excellent drafting and formulation skills; proven record of official reports or papers/studies in the selected area
- Good command of English and any other UN language
- Experience in conducting and facilitating trainings, workshops and seminars would be an advantage
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a demanding multi-cultural team environment
- A positive and professional team spirit.

Published writing samples (if any)
Statement indicating:
- The field of work in which the applicant possesses expertise:
The level of experience:
- Senior-level experts – Over 10 years of senior level experience in their core area preferably with high level policy experience and supervisory roles. A proven policy, advisory and advocacy experience and track record of effective engagement with political leaders, government, civil society and the international community.
- Mid-level experts – Over 5 years of experience in their core area with advisory support; research, analysis, designing training and/or capacity building programs, monitoring and evaluation, project/program management
Statement indicating current consulting fees per day and / or per month
UN Women will enter into contractual agreements with roster members as and when required.
Fees will be paid on the basis of services provided.
No entitlement to remuneration will arise solely on the basis of inclusion in the roster.
