Construction Project Manager

Job Summary: Construction Project Managers will be responsible for the design, contracting and construction of new and rehabilitative building projects.


Their scope of work will include implementation of efficient building practices that span from design to completion.


Reporting: Managing Director / CEO

Duties & Responsibilities



  • Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines.

  • Determine labour requirements and dispatch workers to construction sites.

  • Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, and other regulations.

  • Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients, representing the owner or developer.

  • Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.

  • Obtain all necessary permits and licenses.

  • Direct and supervise workers.

  • Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods.

  • Select, contract, and oversee workers who complete specific pieces of the project, such as painting or plumbing.

  • Requisition supplies and materials to complete construction projects.

  • Prepare and submit budget estimates and progress and cost tracking reports.

  • Develop and implement quality control programs.

  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.

  • Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems.

  • Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites, to ensure that proper procedures are being carried out.

  • Evaluate construction methods and determine cost-effectiveness of plans, using computers.

  • Direct acquisition of land for construction projects.


Qualifications & Experience



  • Certified Project Manager with a minimum of 2 years of experience of managing construction projects and working with local and international partners;

  • Ability to manage programs and deliver capacity development to partner organizations including government departments.

  • Good understanding and experience of programme management cycle;

  • Experience in program conducting monitoring and evaluation including the use of lessons to modify programming as necessary in order to meet project targets and objectives.

  • Demonstrated skills and experience in writing up high quality donor reports

  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching;

  • Flexible, pro-active, and open-minded work style: the ability to work productively both independently and in a team-based environment;

  • Ability to adopt a professional and diplomatic approach in creating strong relationships with all internal and external stakeholders;

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Constructions Industry;

  • Ability to priorities, Strong organizational skills;

  • Strong computer skills and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
