Business Development Manager – IKM

IKM is seeking to recruit suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Business Development Manager.This role is responsible for ensuring that the entire Firm’s business development and marketing output meets the standards of brand excellence expected from a top tier law firm.


Responsibilities:The incumbent will be expected to:-



  • Develop a thorough understanding of the firm’s practice areas, partners and associates specialties, and their associated business development support needs.

  • Work with the partners to raise the presentation and articulation of the firm’s experience and accolades across various communication platforms, and in particular on the firm’s website, global directory listing and print media.

  • Supervise design and production of collateral materials such as firm profile, brochures, pitch materials, newsletters, and client alerts and manage the consistent use and application of the firm’s brand.

  • Manage local and cross border pitches, tenders, sector specific information, capability statements and related documents with the aim of collating information, drafting content with a view to producing high-level, complex and branded pitches, tenders and related documents within stringent timelines;

  • Research and analyze trends in the firm’s practice and identify new cross-selling business opportunities.

  • Encourage new business opportunities via coordinated meetings with prospects and referral sources.

  • Supervise and update the firm’s profile, client distribution list, web initiatives including but not limited to the website, social media, and other business development and marketing avenues. Institute and monitor Business Development and marketing policies, procedures and best practices that enhance the firm’s presence in the commercial scene.

  • Define, package and communicate the specialist services offered by the firm, both to internal and external target audiences;

  • Research publications and industry conferences to identify opportunities for publications, byline articles and speaking engagements.

  • Execute top tier networking programs, conferences, academies, retreats and events. Coordinate with the partners on formats and topics for presentation in such forums.

  • Develop and oversee the firm’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and work in tandem with partners on the CSR, charitable and related projects.

  • Match trade association memberships and event sponsorships to firm strategic goals.

  • Develop a system to capture, track and follow up on business development and marketing activities and their efficacy.

  • Work with the Managing Partner to develop and implement both long term and short term key business and marketing development plans and budgets;

  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress and status reports for presentation to the Managing Partner.

  • Undertake any other tasks allocated by Management from time to time.


Qualifications & Skills:



  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing.

  • Must be an experienced business developer with at least 2 – 3 years experience in a managerial position.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Demonstrated business acumen and strong understanding of business requirements.

  • Is able to work under pressure.

  • Must be self motivated and responsive; results oriented.

  • Excellent analytical skills.

  • Computer literate.
