The World Food Programme Somalia activities include food assistance for relief, emergency school feeding, humanitarian air and logistics services, food coordination and emergency rehabilitation projects.

WFP Programme Assistant Job Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Pipeline and Resource Management and the overall supervision of the Head of Programme, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:
- Assist in the preparation of actualized and accurate monthly pipeline reports in terms of food needs, cash & vouchers, opening stocks, balances, arrivals, loans and repayments and shortfalls;
- Contribute to the preparation of upstream and downstream pipeline analysis reports;
- Draft minutes of monthly Pipeline Committee meetings;
- Assist in the preparation of Funding Proposals in consultation with the relevant Units and provide information on funds utilization when required;
- Support in the preparation of Assignment Plans in accordance with import parities approved by in HQ, or based on the approved Funding proposals or on the availability of stocks in the Forward Purchase Facility;
- Keep track of Purchase Requisitions (PRs), Purchase Orders (POs) and Shipping Instructions (SIs) issued by the relevant Units;
- Monitor, update and track of all confirmed contributions soon as they are received and programmed;
- Monitor Terminal Obligation Dates (TOD) and Terminal Disbursement Dates (TDD) of grants closely and ensure that unspent balances are reprogrammed;
- Assist in the preparation of requests for advance financing as required;
- Support in the preparation of monthly consolidated Funds Management Analysis reports;
- Assist in the review of existing budgets and preparation of new budgets; prepare external transport budgets, and consolidate budgets prepared by various Units;
- Assist in the preparation of Commodity and Cash & Voucher consolidated tables based on Vulnerability and
- Mapping (VAM) assessments;
- Maintain records on resource and pipeline management activities;
- Evaluate, develop and recommend procedures. Participate in discussions on new/revised procedures and practices; interpret and assess the impact of changes and make recommendations on follow up actions;
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications for Programme Assistant Kenyan Jobs
- Education: Secondary school education, preferably supplemented by courses in human resources, public administration, transport, development economics or other related field.
- Experience: At least five years of progressively responsible experience, of which at least one year was closely related to programme functions. Experience in performing basic financial analysis, office or operational budgets and development of budgets, financial plans or analysis and supply chain management would be an asset. At least one year at the G5 level or equivalent.
- Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English is a requirement.
- Knowledge : Experience utilising computers including word processing, spreadsheet and other software packages. Knowledge of WFP regulations and rules, and WFP policies and procedures in the area of work would be an added advantage.
