Laboratory Technician for a Research Project
The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is an international non-profit,
Non-governmental organization that carries out policy relevant research on population, health, education and development issues facing sub-Saharan Africa.
APHRC invites applications for Laboratory Technician work in one of its projects to be based in their laboratory in Nairobi. The objective of the project is to conduct a genetic association study with obesity, body fat distribution and cardiovascular diseases in Kenya as part of a multi-country initiative.
The employment will be for 6 Months, starting September 2014
Qualifications and competencies
- Holder of diploma or degree in Medical Laboratory Science or similar qualification from a recognized medical training institution.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in conducting laboratory work in a busy Research/Health based facility undertaking multi-sample separation and assay techniques.
- Self-motivated, flexible and able to work independently to improve standards.
- Organized, detail oriented and able to thrive in a fast paced environment.
- Knowledge of computer programs, including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience with research/study protocols strongly encouraged.
