We launched in Kenya in early 2014 and we aim to be reaching tens of thousands of people across East Africa within five years.

As such, we’re only interested in highly motivated, very driven self-starters, full of great ideas and willing to work very hard – if you’re looking for lots of micromanagement, this isn’t the job for you.

As a Client Manager on the Corporate Training (CT) team, you will take the lead on the everyday project and client management of a Company Training “internal university” product. For these clients, we build robust learning and development programmes for their existing and new employees. The typical project timeline is 2 years, where the first year is focused on programme design, company culture, and delivering initial training, and the second year is focused on transitioning project management to the client and adding structure to the learning programme.

In this role, you are ultimately accountable for client satisfaction and successful execution of an employer training project. Additionally, you are responsible for sharing lessons learned from the project with the broader CT team, to inform future CT direction and offerings.

Client Manager Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead project execution through work planning, coordination of team members and resources, and other inputs so that major milestones and deliverables are met
  • Lead client relationship-building and management; the Client Manager is expected to be on-site at least two days per week and to own client communications
  • Ensure that the Corporate Training Head and Spire Leadership Team are well-informed about the progress and major outcomes of your project
  • Manage the Project Associate and Operations Associate
  • Develop sound processes, systems and tools to facilitate execution and learning both on the project and with the wider CT team

You’ll be:

  • A great communicator: You can inspire and provide clarity through a compelling email or a short conversation.
  • You listen more than you talk and can convince anyone, from a student to a CEO, of your vision through a quick pitch, whether it’s in a formal presentation or a chance encounter.
  • An exceptional manager: You will have extensive experience building and running high-performing teams that achieve great results with limited resources and tight deadlines.
  • Flexible: You’re flexible enough to deal with the changes of plan & unexpected tasks that crop up in a fast-growing company like Spire, and in the course of client service.
  • Results-driven: You move fast and take full ownership for your work and will think through how to solve problems on your own to achieve ambitious targets. You do whatever it takes to get results, even if it means you doing basic work. In short, you have the opposite of a big corporate mentality.
  • Detail oriented: You actually care whether your emails are spelled properly and capitalised correctly. You notice when other people don’t do this. It will annoy you to see when small details not taken care of.
  • Analytical: You might not be a winning statistician but you can think logically about targets you & the team should work to meet and how you can set up systems to measure those targets

Qualifications for Client Manager Jobs in Kenya

  • 4-5 years experience: You’ll have experience of managing projects in a rigorous, high-expectations setting.
  • Ideally you’ll have first-hand experience of: client or account management, presenting to senior management, and coordinating multiple people to deliver complex projects. A background in business is preferred, as our training programme focuses on building professional skills.
  • Demonstrated client success: You’ll have proven effectiveness in client relationship management and delivering project-based services to clients.
  • A track record of success: You’ll have impressed your peers & your superiors in previous jobs with your hard work, your ability to get things done and your rapport with people
  • Experience in demanding settings: You haven’t taken the easy road in your career. You have worked in environments where you have had to build new systems and teams even while you deliver results that might seem impossible. You thrived in this setting and are looking for more.
  • A real interest in Education: You’ll be passionate about helping people learn new skills, develop fantastic careers and become the best possible versions of themselves even if you have never worked in education before.
  • Good computer skills: You’ll be highly adept with Excel, PowerPoint & Word and will be able to coach team members on creating flawless client-facing materials using these tools. Working knowledge of Google Docs will be a plus. The ability to type 45 wpm at minimum is essential.
