IT Assistant

Salary: 40 – 50K gross
Our client, a construction engineering company is looking for a qualified and experienced IT assistant to support and perform general IT duties
Job Purpose:
The IT Assistant is responsible for installing and maintaining computer hardware, software and networks.
Job Duties:
- Troubleshoot hardware, software and network operating system
- Be familiar with all hardware and software
- Be familiar with network operating system
- Provide orientation to new users of existing technology
- Provide individual training and support on request
- Provide network accounts and passwords as required
- Input and maintain IP addresses
- Ensure installation of lock out programs
- Provide recommendations about accessing information and support
- Troubleshoot all technology issues
- Provide network access to all staff
- Install work stations
- Connect and set up hardware
Knowledge:
- The applicant must have proficient knowledge in the following areas;
- Windows OS
- CISCO Switches; LAN/WAN
- Cabling
- Ms Office
- IP Telephony Knowledge
- Hardware Maintenance
Skills:
- Ability to install and administer computer hardware, software and networks
- Ability to follow, apply, interpret, and explain instructions and/or guidelines
- Ability to determine work priorities
- Ability to make decisions and take appropriate actions
- Ability to meet schedules and deadlines of the work area
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to interpret and apply complex rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Ability to work under extreme pressure
- High initiative and drive
Education and Experience:
- Relevant Degree in IT
- Over two years’ experience in a busy organization.
