NGO Jobs Kenya
Consultancy to Undertake Job Evaluation & Grade Structure Review
Background information:
Save the Children has been operational in Kenya since the 1950s, providing support to children through developmental and humanitarian relief programs delivered both directly and through local partners.
Current programming focuses on child protection, child rights governance, education, health, HIV/AIDS, livelihoods, nutrition and WASH.
Save the Children has an operational presence in Dadaab Refugee Camp, Mandera, Meru, Wajir, Bungoma and Turkana Counties.
The current national staff salary grade structure was put together in 2012 to accommodate the new unified Save the Children International. Since then, organization’s programmes have expanded significantly in geographical coverage and in the nature of work.
The existing grade structure does not adequately address current needs.
The grade structure was designed with less than 24 job titles but that has grown to over 35.
New titles have been created to address program needs but a rational basis is required for making defensible decisions on job grades and rates of pay.
Currently Organization Kenya has 85 national staff.
Objective of the Consultancy:
The objective of the consultancy is to review the existing structure and make recommendations to management on a revised grade structure that:
Addresses the current need and is also flexible enough to accommodate future changes
Is within the market norms in terms of levels as well as the minimum and maximum salary
Expected Output:-
- A competitive grade structure that reflects the realities of the organisation, addresses inequities and disparities in similar functions performed across the Kenya Programme.
- Revised job descriptions and specifications for national staff.
- Recommend a logical and consistent approach for grading new positions that ensure internal equity with minimum distortion of the existing structure
