Job Vacancy – Operations Manager


Elifurni Furniture Ltd


Introduction

We are a joinery and cabinet making company based in Kiambu, Kenya. We have a team of seventy people working to produce creative, high quality furniture, fitted kitchens and wardrobes, shelving and cabinets. We are looking for an Operations Manager to oversee the entire operations of the company. Reporting to the MD, the Operations Manager will be responsible for Sales and Marketing, Customer Service, Production, Financial Management and Human Resources.


Operations Manager Role Summary


The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the organization while ensuring optimized utilization of resources to meet strategic objectives. Reporting to the MD, he/she will lead the entire team at Elifurni to ensure that they are productive as well as motivated.


Duties and Responsibilities



  • Ensures the company attracts the right candidates and creates a work environment that enforces efficiency and productivity as well as personal growth and development

  • Overall responsible for profitability, cost cutting and growth

  • Oversees the successful acquisition and retention of customers and meeting of set sales targets

  • Builds a strong, competitive brand that increases market share

  • Accompanies the sales team to client meetings and negotiates contracts

  • Manages tenders and proposals ensuring success in the tendering process

  • Effectively communicates strategic plans and information to directors and management

  • Holds regular status meetings with the teams

  • Sets and manages client expectations and manages the Production team’s quality and efficiency

  • Manages and develops the team members and manage their performance and schedules

  • Overall responsible for enforcing adherence to Health and Safety regulations

  • Manages sub-contractors and any outsourced work process

  • Ensures proper documentation and reporting at all levels and at all times

  • Identifies and minimizes exposure and risk as well as legal and financial compliance

  • Manages budgeting, financial prudence and ensures tight financial controls are in place

  • Continually seeks opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen Client Relationships

  • Builds a knowledge base of the industry, the market and the competition


Key attributes of the Operations Manager



  • Must demonstrate the experience and ability to lead a large team in a factory environment

  • Must be business savvy and a quick learner able to grasp technical details

  • Must demonstrate strong leadership skills and ability to motivate the team

  • Requires flexibility of time

  • Must demonstrate proven analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and oversee the execution of tasks in a high-pressure environment

  • Should have excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language

  • Highly self-motivated and driven

  • Must have keen attention to detail

  • Team-oriented and skilled in working within a collaborative environment


Education and Experience



  • At least a degree in business, management or equivalent. An MBA is an added advantage

  • Additional business related training an advantage

  • At least eight (8) years’ relevant work experience

  • Experience working in a factory environment
