3 Careers With The Worst Reputation In Fraud
1. Information Technology, IT
A recent article by the daily nation revealed just how far technology savvy employees would go for a flashy lifestyle in the society at the expense of unsuspecting clients.
The paper reveals that most of them work in banks or the financial departments of big businesses where their information technology skills are indispensable.
They are then involved in money laundering schemes where they transfer billions of funds to offshore accounts for customers and run complex forex transactions.
2. Accounting
Looking back at when banks used to be robbed in broad daylight, the trend has changed. This is because of a new method used by rogue accountants working in the banking or insurance industry who are involved in theft of money in their client’s accounts.
The Bank employees who are trusted with the responsibility of safeguarding your money, have now turned into con artists. According to a report by price Waterhouse Coopers, banking fraud is the most common form of financial crimes perpetrated in Kenya.
This is because of the desire for higher lifestyle and peer pressure commonly associated with young people who are the majority of bank employees today, according to Joshua Oigara, the CEO of KCB Bank group.
The report further suggests that outsiders are colluding with internal employees who are the key factors in the crimes.
