Summary:
Our client is involved in processing of edible nuts, chocolates, wines, beef. Their operations are spread mainly in Central Kenya with two factories based in Thika. However, their sales team sits in Nairobi, Mombasa, Thika and Naivasha. The incumbent is expected to oversee sales operations regionally.
Job Objective
Plan, organize and coordinate all program engineering activities, resources and projects effectively in order to meet the organization’s production and operational requirements. The job holder will handle a 40 strong team of engineers, technicians and artisans
Primary Responsibilities:
- Day to day management of the Engineering department, including attending management/operations meetings and completing all required reports.
- Supervise and direct the Engineering unit in order to ensure proper functioning of the department with regard to operations, planning, resources and development
- Provide input to technical requirements that enable organizations to operate and maintain facilities efficiently and cost effectively
- Maintain, monitor and implement any training requirements/needs for your team to maximize productivity and flexibility within your team.
- Responsible for performance management and conduct performance reviews.
- Responsible for preparing AOP budgets for the Engineering department.
- Provide engineering support in technical descriptions in contracts for the procurement of special engineering services and/or studies from engineering service providers
- To manage the recruitment and selection of departmental engineering staff.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Qualification, Knowledge and Experience:
- Relevant undergraduate qualification in Engineering is desirable with 8 years’ experience.
- Business management degree or diploma would be an advantage.
- Generic understanding of software, mechanical, electronic hardware, and manufacturing electronics technology is important with a detailed technical background in at least one of the fields (software is definitely an advantage).
- Proven leadership experience in a management role is essential and leadership training is desirable.
- Recent management experience (within past 3 years) in an engineering function with knowledge of latest technology is highly desirable.
